No. 1 The Food Athlete Launch-eon

Big day today!  Made it through another year on this beautiful, crazy, wonderful, wild, planet. I'm a bit anxious, ok, like very anxious, bees are swarming in my stomach.  But, with faith in the universe, (I'm going with my gut on this one), I'm taking my new site live and this one here, is my first blog post. Deep breath Jessi. You got this!!   Everyone is going to love you. This is called facing your fears. Nothing can, or will be as terrifying as never taking a chance and then having to live with the regret. So, what the hell, I'm going all in.  I take a big inhale in of self-confidence, exhale the nerves and butterflies ,hit "save & publish," breathe again, check frequently for likes and comments, HaHa!

Why The Food Athlete?  When I came up with my name, my brand, a few years ago, I needed a concept that would compliment my style.  I'm an athlete, I love food, I teach health.  Pretty simple.  So, are athletes the only people who need to eat? Um, No. So what is the Definition of an athlete?: "a person who is proficient in sports and other forms of physical exercise." Alright, well,  the "sports" part is obvious, and probably a shared opinion of most when it comes to defining who is an athlete. However, I have a broader, and I believe the more judicious interpretation of this noun. "Athletes" are ANYBODY, and "physical" exercise includes all ACTIVITIES. A body in motion is an athlete. A surfer, walking in a marching band, putting groceries away, walking while carrying your child or fur-baby, gardening, juggling, washing dishes, getting out of bed and walking to the mailbox. Catch my drift? If you are a human being, living, breathing, made up of cells and H2O, guess what, you're an athlete in my book. I'm certain that if you ask any pro how they got to be a pro, they would tell you it took dedication, commitment, focus and a coach. My goals as a Food and Health Strategist (your coach) are to share my method with you, the people who are genuinely interested in living a happy, healthy life. No BS diets, no quick fixes, so this may take some hard work and uncover some uncomfortable situations.  This is what it may take to create, change or improve food and lifestyle behaviors. Everyone is different of course and that's why my work with you will be individualized and very specific to just you.  I will be as dedicated and committed to you, as you are to yourself and your goals. It's a team effort friends. You can read a little bit about me, my qualifications and what got me here, in my bio. and as we get to know each other, more will be revealed. I'm an open book, you can ask me anything and I'm honest almost to a fault. Trust me, though, you want honest when it comes to what you are going to put in your system. I've lived on this Earth for a minute and I'm excited now to have this platform to share my experiences with the World.

Today is my birthday and what better way to celebrate than  thrusting myself into the abyss of the internet, I'm just going to be one GIANT SHAMELESS SELFIE today. It's ok, I'm gonna own it! As  daunting as it seems this is the best bday gift I could  give to myself. A gentle nudge  in the direction of my dreams.  To write, to write about food, to teach what I know to be true about food, to share new findings of food,  inspire others to find balance in the form of a smart food habits and fitness, encourage a spiritual practice, and finally, continue to explore health and wellness as it evolves every day.  It isn't all about the physical and the food integration, a spiritual element is so important too, because when you feel good you look good, not the other way around. This is why I expanded on my fitness career for the past 25 years and have now merged seamlessly into nutrition. I call myself a Food and Health Strategist because I am going to not only teach you about healthy food, but also educate you about effective eating behaviors to fuel smart for your lifestyle. And technically yes, I'm a Certified Nutritionist. I have spent the last year and a half getting my cred at LMU  in Nutrition for Optimal Health, Wellness and Sports.  Some of my Food Athlete offerings will include creating individualized meal plans, pantry make-overs, taking shopping trips to grocery stores and local farmers markets, learning how to identify what's in a label, and hosting small cooking classes, just to name a few. As I grow so will my knowledge and services. My love of food along with my immense respect for nourishment I can only hope is contagious. Since I'm a newbie when it comes to managing my own website, I invite comments, constructive suggestions, and of course I happily and humbly welcome your support. Although I have tons of topics I'm bursting at the seams to talk about, I would also love to hear what you are interested in learning about, do you need the 411 on anything special. I'm all ears.

Welcome to The Food Athlete friends! I am over the moon excited to get to know all of you.

While I'm getting my sites kinks worked out, if you have questions about working with me, purchasing Food Strategies, or any services, please email me at jessibp44@gmail.com.

The Food Athlete services can be found on my page Let's Work Together.

Good news for you though, my teaching and coaching skills are far superior to my web-function skills. But I did put this all together, mostly on my own, so that says a lot about my tenacity.

Be Happy, Be Healthy, Love Your Body,

xx Jessi, (your food athlete) xx
